Whether it’s a trip home to visit the folks, a PCS, or looking toward civilian life, we know our service members and their families are on the move and we’re here to help. Military family in transit to reunite with a loved one? We can help you get from Point A to Point B with your sanity intact! Coming home from deployment? We’ll be there to greet you; and while you were away, we worked hard to keep you connected to your loved ones !

If your transition involves trading camouflage for khakis, we can help there, too, with tools to get a resume squared away and practice for interviews.

However you define “transition” during your military career, the USO is there.

Career Transition Program

An estimated 200,000-plus service members transition out of the military each year. Each Transition from military to civilian life is unique, and the USO of Pennsylvania and Southern NJ’s  there to help service members and military spouses through the process.

We have a Career Transition Project Manager on staff to assist in the process.

Learn How To Code: Zip Code Wilmington

Zip Code Wilmington offers a 12-week coding boot camp (3 times annually) with intensive training in Java and JavaScript. After the 12 weeks, those students who qualify can participate in a paid apprenticeship for 26 weeks with a corporate partner. In addition 93% percent of the students who graduate receive a job offer from one of the corporate partners. Starting salary is expected to be around $64,000.

The total cost for tuition is $12,000. $3,000 is paid up front by USO & InterDigital. If the student selects a job with a participating corporate partner, the remaining $9,000 is paid by the partnering company. If the student does not find employment within 6 months the tuition is forgiven. If the student elects employment with a company not part of the program than the student is responsible to pay the $9,000 balance.

The USO, in partnership with Interdigital will sponsor 3-5 [active, guard or reserve military or veteran] Service Members (or spouses) to participate in the program.

Educating Our Hiring Managers

Comcast NBCUniveral in a partnership with the USO will offer HR and business leaders the opportunity to advance their knowledge to move from a military friendly to military ready employer for our transitioning service members and their families.

PsychArmor will be utilized as the key education tool for informing our workforce leaders.   Our goal is to offer the content to HR professionals and business leaders with an incentive to those professionals who are HRCI and SHRM certified to earn certification credits.
